Visualising lyrics...

Next month I am planning to record one of my songs "The Child" in a professional recording studio. When writing this song I was contemplating the playful, imaginative, self-expressed wisdom of children. I was also thinking about how over the years that authentic, vulnerable, free part of us can become covered up by a layer of adult expectation- an experience I refer to in this song as "tired skin". Ultimately The Child is about rediscovering an experience of playfulness and exuberance. I have been exploring the lyrics of this song visually through my digital art, as seen above and below.

The Child

Oh, I think it's a child

I saw a halo disappearing beyond

The horizon line

Oh, I think it's my child

Lighthouse bring her in

Lay her wisdom in these ready hands

Am I dreaming

Doors of the world seem to be closing

The rhythm embedded in time

My voice became not mine

The answer always yes that will be fine

Now the window stands open

The child has been chosen

The habit is there to be broken

They say it takes time and a wholehearted mind

To unravel the untamed mind

Oh, there'll be no better time

I saw perseverance disappearing beyond

Her two closed eyes

Oh, there'll be no better time

Walking into the open

Where clarity remains unbroken

Shedding her tired skin

She will find peace with all that she is and isn't within

The rhythm embedded in time

My voice became not mine

The answer always yes that will be fine

Now the window stands open

The child has been chosen

The habit is there to be broken

They say it takes time and a wholehearted mind

To unravel the untamed mind
